Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of leadership on employee performance mediated by job satisfaction at the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) Secretariat of Palembang City. This research employs a quantitative approach. The total sample consisted of 65 respondents. Data analysis was conducted using the Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) method. The results indicate that leadership does not have a direct and significant effect on employee performance, meaning that performance improvement cannot be achieved solely through leadership enhancement. However, leadership has a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction, suggesting that the role of leaders is crucial in creating a sense of comfort, fairness, and appreciation in the workplace. Job satisfaction has a positive and significant effect on employee performance, indicating that employees who are satisfied tend to demonstrate better performance. Furthermore, job satisfaction fully mediates the relationship between leadership and employee performance, implying that leadership can improve performance indirectly through increasing employees’ job satisfaction.
